Cilajet FAQs

What you need to know about Cilajet & Ceramic Coatings

Does Cilajet need to be reapplied? If Yes, How often?

Cilajet typically lasts 5+ years with a single application, and usually does not need to be reapplied within that timeframe to keep the vehicle protected from environmental damage. However, if any Cilajet treated portion of the vehicle is repainted/replaced, or if bug, tar, or tree sap remover is used, Cilajet should be reapplied to those areas to keep the vehicle protected. It is also possible to have Cilajet applied again to a vehicle that has already been treated in order to increase protection. Cilajet may also be sold with a warranty that may contain other terms and conditions regarding reapplication of Cilajet – in these cases, please refer to your Cilajet warranty if you were provided with one and/or ask your selling dealer for more information regarding Cilajet reapplication.

Do I have to use Cilajet aftercare products after it is applied?

No. While it is not required to use Cilajet aftercare products on a vehicle treated with Cilajet, our aftercare and detailing products are engineered to bring out the best in your vehicles appearance and can increase the longevity of your vehicles shine.

Does Cilajet protect paint from scratches?

Cilajet Ceramic paint protection offers superior protection from environmental factors such as acid rain, tree sap, industrial fallout, bird droppings, water spots, etc., and provides 9H hardness, increasing minor scratch resistance for your vehicle. However, Cilajet does not prevent physical damage such as rock chipping and pitting, scratches, peeling, etc. the way a clear protection film would. If you are experiencing scratches or other physical damage to your vehicle, we recommend reaching out to your dealership to see if they offer additional protections or coverage for these issues.

How can I tell if Cilajet is applied?

After Cilajet automotive paint protection is applied to your vehicle, you should see a mirror-like finish and shine, making your vehicle look as though it has just been waxed. The paint should also feel smooth to the touch after washing, and your vehicle should be easier to clean and stay clean longer. Most dealerships will also have internal documentation of the order, called a repair order or “RO”, to have Cilajet applied in their detail department, and you may be able to request a copy from them.

Is Cilajet a film?

Cilajet is not a film. Cilajet automotive paint protection is an exterior environmental protection coating product that bonds to your vehicle’s exterior and fills the pores of your vehicle’s surfaces. It is designed to protect the vehicles painted and metal surfaces from environmental conditions and damage such as acid rain, tree sap, industrial fallout, bird droppings, water spots, etc. While our Cilajet Ceramic coatings provide 9H hardness, increasing minor scratch resistance for your vehicle, Cilajet does not prevent physical damage such as rock chipping and pitting, scratches, peeling, etc. the way a clear protection film would.

Does Cilajet work on windows? Is Cilajet Applied to Windows?

Typically, Cilajet is not applied to the windows. It is safe to do so, however check with your authorized dealership to see if they do.

Does Cilajet work with satin paint?

While Cilajet can technically be applied to matte and satin surfaces (it will bond to these painted surfaces), the enhanced shine and gloss Cilajet exterior application provides may not be a desired effect and may defeat the purpose of having satin paint in the first place.

Does Cilajet work with matte paint?

Cilajet paint protection provides long-lasting shine and protection. While Cilajet will provide superior protection against the environment, it also creates a shine and enhances gloss. Matte and satin surfaces are intended to be dull or less glossy, so this may not be a desired result.

How long does Cilajet take to cure?

Cilajet is ready to go once your vehicle leaves the lot. It is recommended not to wash or wipe down the vehicle for 48 hours after Cilajet automotive paint protection is applied to allow the product to fully cure. However, it is okay to be driven in the rain or get wet prior to curing.

What is Ceramic Coating for Cars?

To understand ceramic coatings, let’s first look at the most common types of paint-protection products.

Wax is organic and the most affordable that ranges from paste to quick shine sprays. Wax has been known for decades to keep your car looking shiny and new, however, wax isn’t that durable of a product. Therefore, it must be applied multiple times a year.

Cilajet AG is a paint sealant thats synthetic and designed to last for years. Car paint sealants provides a deep shine to the vehicles to which it is applied.

Ceramic coatings are a silica-based liquid polymer that’s applied by hand and cures to form a protective layer on your vehicle. A ceramic coating that’s properly maintained can be effective and protect your vehicle.

Advantages of Ceramic Coating for Cars?

With ceramic coatings you create a hydrophobic layer. This layer will repel water and keep mineral deposits and dirt from potentially damaging the car’s paint surface. Due to this effect, ceramic coatings are able to preserve your car’s paint job and keep it looking good longer.

The main reason that car owners choose a ceramic coating over the other options is for its lasting protection. A ceramic coating is basically a hard shell for your car that protects against road grime, bird droppings, fading, rust, oxidation, hard water deposits, industrial fallout and more. A simple rinse is often all that’s necessary to have the contaminants simply slide right off and keep them from harming the paint.

Why You Should Use Ceramic Coating ?

With wax, you can spend all day for results that are dull in comparison to ceramic coatings. Let’s face the facts, a wax polish cannot prevent oxidation, fading, or stains from collecting on your car over time. Additionally, this process must be repeated every two or three months.

Many professionals and car enthusiasts have turned to ceramic coatings as a replacement for car wax. On average, a ceramic coating has a lifespan ranging anywhere from six months to 5+ years with a single application depending on the quality of the product. With Cilajet Aviation Grade Ceramic coatings you can rest assured you’re getting unmatched quality with the longest lasting protection available for your car.
